Course on Gymse Stove Construction

What are Gymse Stoves?

They are counterflow stoves associated with a bell bench that extract all the calorific power from wood and can heat for a long time with fewer loads. Unlike regular stoves where you need to constantly feed it wood to keep your house warm, with a Gymse, one good burn in the morning and another in the evening will keep your house warm for 24 hours.

Why Do Self-Built Stoves Often Fail?

  • Poor quality materials: Lack of knowledge about which specific materials to purchase often results in premature deterioration.
  • Poor bench design: Incorrectly made benches can lead to undesirable operation such as excessive smoke or condensation in the exhaust pipe.
  • Poor sizing: Incorrectly calculated stove sizes can't heat the entire house, leading to premature wear from overuse.
  • Poor combustion: The stove does not burn efficiently and consumes a lot of wood.
  • Low autonomy: The combustion chamber is too small, requiring frequent refueling.
